The location of the cabin to the beach is AMAZING! You literally walk out the door and you are on the beach. Super nice for a family with young children and this was easily our favorite amenity. The physical location of the cabin is not in the best area. Did not feel safe running off the army installation and there were times in the evening, while watching the sunset, that I did not feel safe venturing far from the cabin. Most people told us to be in cabin by nightfall and it was easy to see why. During checkin they are also adamant about bringing everything inside since it is a public beach. Make sure to do so, our neighbors had sandals taken. That being said, I never felt super unsafe during my stay and with it being a guarded facility, I felt a bit better.
The cabins are definitely run down and older. This was not a huge thing for us, as the view and the location to the beach were so amazing. Where else can you pay so little for prime beach access?! The beds were not amazing but they were fine for our stay. We were in a two bedroom cabin and it had more than enough room for us. Word is that in the next year or two they will be renovating the cabins, which is great to hear because it truly is a great place in need of a little revamp. The restaurant on the grounds is closed.
We have been a completely satisfied return customer to the Waianae Army rest camp for more than 40 plus years. Our family has grown up here. And now our grandchildren as well as great grandchildren or enjoying the beauty of it. Over all those years we've had nothing but 100% awesome satisfactory with each visit thank you very much
Excellent beach for military families. It's quiet, clean, and has both a gentle beach and a beach suited for surfing. Gorgeous little snorkeling area over by the rock wall separating the two as well. The sand is very fine and soft on the feet away from the rocks. There are lifeguards and showers available. Only complaint is no soap provided in the bathrooms.
We did feel like the cleanliness of the cabins could have been a bit better which is why I am giving 4 stars. Towel exchange daily but no other cleaning is done, that is up to the guests. That being said we would go back in a heartbeat and hope to visit again after the renovation. Some reviews on other sites are a bit harsh and I felt like they were not at all warranted. It is an affordable stay for military families, better than camping out but not quite on par with a hotel. We got exactly what we were expecting, which is a rustic cabin right on the beach and a wonderful time! I highly recommend Pililaau!
Lovely cabins. Great rental prices. You can surf, paddle, boogie board. Cabins have full kitchens. Small store and equipment rental on site. Fair warning though. The public can enter the compound. If you leave your stuff in your car or on your cabin deck you WILL get robbed. We saw it over and over even though the staff personally tells everyone and signs are posted. Avoid a bad experience by keeping ALL belongings in your cabin. We had a fabulous time at PARC.
Great beaches! Good for surfboarding, boogie boarding, paddleboarding, and snorkeling. You can also spot whales, dolphins, and turtles. Small kitchen space though. Overall a great place to stay!
Full kitchens and charcoal grills outside which is nice since there are not too many options for eating out close by. We stopped at the commissary on our way out and grilled out every night for dinner, it was perfect.
We recently stayed at the cabins for 6 nights, family of 4 with a 1 year old and 4 year old. First of all the staff are extremely accommodating and super helpful. Special thanks to Aida who made our Space A trip less stressful and was able to secure a semi last minute reservation for us.
Small exchange on the property with limited hours and selections, but it fit our needs perfectly.
